Ritherdon’s Arabic adventure at Gulf Traffic 2012

Ritherdon’s Peter Hoban was representing Ritherdon in the United Arab Emirates this week, at the Gulf Traffic 2012 exhibition, which Ritherdon were invited to attend. Spending 5-days in the Gulf city of Abu Dhabi.

The exhibition was held at the prestigious Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, running from Monday 19th to Wednesday 21st November, and is the only event in the Middle East that is specific to the Highways industry.

Ritherdon were invited by Amber Traffic Services to attend the exhibition with the intention of introducing Ritherdon’s range of stainless steel cabinets, electrical enclosures and feeder pillars to the Middle East highways markets. More specifically, Ritherdon’s highways cabinets will hopefully be utilised to house and protect Traffic Signal & Street Lighting control equipment throughout the Persian Gulf and beyond.

Bill Taylor of Amber Traffic Services is Ritherdon’s agent in the Gulf region and has many years experience of the traffic signals market. Bill chose to represent Ritherdon in the UAE after utilising Ritherdon products for a number of years whilst working for Leeds City Council for their superior build quality. Amber Traffic are also representing Motus & Poletech of the UK to offer suitors in the Gulf a ‘Best of British’ solution to common highways problems in the Middle East.

With road safety and reducing deaths on Middle Eastern road networks high on the agenda, Ritherdon are also confident of introducing the passively-safe Ritherdon FlexiPole and FlexiPost.

And it wasn’t the first time in 2012 that Ritherdon had been represented overseas. Both Peter Hoban and Managing Director, Ben Ritherdon, were flying the flag for Ritherdon in Amsterdam back in April for Intertraffic 2012. Similar overseas stints are also planned for 2013 to continue Ritherdon’s ambitious expansion plans.

Talking about the trip and Gulf Traffic event, Peter Hoban said: “It was brilliant to be able to represent Ritherdon at Gulf Traffic in Abu Dhabi.  Abu Dhabi itself is absolutely fantastic, and I tried to soak-up as much of the culture as possible while I was there. The event itself was excellent and I’ve come away from the UAE with a very positive outlook on introducing Ritherdons’ range of highways products to international markets”.
